![]() I came across the book Raising Grateful Kids in an Entitled World because I have followed the We are THAT Family blog and I gravitated to the book's title because what parent hasn't felt their child(ren) is ungrateful and entitled at times? And while I do not agree with every statement Welch makes in this book, I enjoyed it overall and particularly appreciated the fact that Welch did not make what I felt to be overarching statements - this is how YOU need to raise your kids. Instead, she explained what has worked and is working for her family. She also did not hold up her family as a model of perfection, but as a family who is also learning and trying to make things work. Many of the tenets in this book can help you evaluate your parenting but also yourself and your family as a whole. It is difficult to place priorities on the things that actually matter when we are caught up in fast-moving society that places so much emphasis on worldly possessions. This book is definitely worth a read if for no other reason than to cause you to reflect on your life and the choices you make as a family.mercyhouseglobal.org/ I would also suggest checking out the Mercy House global site which is a non-profit organization founded by Kristen Welch and her husband. I just love their purpose statement, "Mercy House exists to engage, empower and disciple women around the globe in Jesus’ name. Engage those with resources to say yes to the plight of women in poverty. Empower women and teenage mothers around the world through partnerships and sustainable fair trade product development. Disciple women to be lifelong followers of Jesus Christ."
